@Joost: What code was used to run 1000 iterations for old/new token()?

This one.
I also use xdebug for counting function calls and the builtin functions. Together they indicate whether I am on the right track, nothing more.

The 1.7rc is not ready for distribution and Modding yet. Most likely need to wait for the final version before any Mods are available.
