How do I get column to fill
« on: November 13, 2007, 02:55:30 am »

I've tried a couple of things but they haven't worked.  How do I go about filling the left column.  Please see attached screen shot...

It all depends on how your left side-bar is defined in your stylesheet. Using the default sNews 1.6 template as an example... the left side-bar is defined in the index.php file as - <div id="left"> and everything that goes in there is within that division.

To apply a background color to the division that contains all your left side-bar stuff, locate the division-name declaration in your CSS stylesheet file... and add - background: #ff0000; within it... and change the color number to whatever you want (currently red). The background color will then apply to the whole division.

you might need to look up "faux columns" on Google... depending on the structural design of your page.
Various methods might work. We'd need to see your template to determine which way to go. A visual doesn't always do it .

Thanks for the suggestions jlhaslip and keyrocks!

I ended up creating a parent div container with a background matching the left column.  What a royal PITA, but I got it now.  ;D
