Article on top of page for a period of time
« on: November 12, 2007, 10:34:13 am »

Hi,

I don't know if this is yet possible but:

I would like to have an article kept at the top of the articles for a period of time. Is this possible?

I show the 10 latest articles at home,
I want this-is-important articles to be shown as the first one, even when newer articles are published.

should be possible, but...

a new field in article table required to hold number of days (for eg) that article is to be displayed out of order.

alteration to startup function, to parse those articles set to >0 (for eg), to determine if they should be reset -- when the number of days past publish date has expired -- if expired, then to alter db, and set that field to 0

alteration to article admin, to add field to set period of top display.
alteration to processing to reflect the new field in the db.

alteration to center to sort article display by new field and date when preparing for listing display etc.

all possible.
fancy doing some programming :D

Yeah I could do some programming if only I had some spare time...

Thanks for confirming that it isn't possible to do this using the plain sNews.
