[POLL][closed]Forum reshuffle-effect on 1.5 forums
« on: September 18, 2007, 01:49:22 pm »

As part of forum organisation, and with SMF having child boards, ultimately sNews 1.5 will be rolled into the previous versions section.
It is just a matter of when, since there are still a fair number that are using this version.

I voted for "Other Opinion" this morning. I think it's good to leave the most previous version active along with the current version. I would consolidate 1.5 along with the others when 1.7 is released, leaving 1.6 as the previous version, and when 1.8 comes out, I'd leave 1.7 as the previous version with 1.6 being consolidated with the others.

I tend to think along same lines as Keys, but only for a while.
We have people upgrading, and most new users have 1.6 (or a form of it).

The vote indicates a clear preference at this stage... the only thing I don't like about the child boards is they way it says no topics and no posts - it looks like those forums with child forums are in fact empty.  Maybe it's just me.

I chose option 3 because 1.4 is a different engine and at times I still use it for development purposes so it is nice to have the forums as reference.  Alot of code is messed up because of the transfer but I too wanted the old forums reopened as archives for that reason alone.  If you still go ahead with merging 1.5 forums, please do not merge it with 1.4/1.3.  1.4 and 1.3 used similar engine and 1.5 is totally different.

My opinion - reopen the old forums for archive purposes and remove the latest versions (1.6 and 1.5) leaving older versions open.  Then remove the older versions from this board.

Good one phil!

@centered, I don't think the forums will be merged as such, just relocated to the Previous Versions forums and adjusted to child boards within a single main forum for 1.5.

apparently 5000+ members, with say 10% spambots that can't get in anymore, and only 13 voters... (21-sept)

No surprises philmoz, most of the members are just here for sNews and it's MODs.. it's to be expected.

I didn't the poll existed, until reading this↑ post. I actually had to look for the poll. It needs some campaigning and a better topic header. Eh..., what are the consequences when rolling sNews 1.5 into the previous versions?

Vote now! What do you want to happen to sNews 1.5? link

well, everything released for 1.5 will look as per the 1.4, that is a list of boards under the single heading.

It will have a seperate section from all the beta and RC versions of 1.5.
