Extrabox displayed in Contact form?
« on: September 07, 2007, 11:20:59 am »

That is a question, and maybe a suggestion:
I have to display some informations somewhere in my contact form.
But, in the administration panel option (Appear only on Page:), Contact form doesn't exist as a page.
Well, I think that would be useful to have that choice enable.
What do you think of it?
Roger.

Hey Sven,

This is not a bad idea; but you can do this easely by yourself.

Just add in your snews.php at the end of the function contact() the text you want, like this:

Code: [Select]
else {echo notification(1,l('contact_not_sent'),'contact');}
}}
echo "and this is just some extra text";
}

Haven't tested it, but it should work I think
To think about it, you can also add an include in stead of the extra text, like:

Code: [Select]
else {echo notification(1,l('contact_not_sent'),'contact');}
}}
include ('path to an external file');
}

A file can also be included at the top of the form, above or below:
Code: [Select]
echo '<div class="commentsbox"><h2>'.l('contact').'</h2>';It is tested.
You can use this also on sitemap or archive.

Thanks to both of you.
Those are some nice ways to do it.
Maybe it should be more flexible if we can have the function in the administration.
So we can choose where we want to display the content when using several extra-boxes with Keyrocks Mod:  2 more Extra Functions
hum?

Although not flexible enough, maybe. How about Extra content mini mod. You would have to paste extra(1,1); where Brauck and i suggested to past the include.

Crossposted: Can also be done with one of the extra extra's.

Although I have edited my snews.php to include additional information on the contact page I still like to have the option to use the contact page with some extra content like every other page or category. most other solutions break my 2 column design. (or I'm not smart enough to find a solution)

Oh, and while I'm at it: Once I define a page to be the startpage It won't show extra content that is assigned to it any longer.

I'm not sure... but I have a feeling that you might have to re-assign the extra to display on "home" if the page is now serving as the home page.

you're right, that works. BUT: When I assign an extra content to the "home" category it means that it appears on every other page too, because all pages are set to this home category automatically. I cannot assign an extra content to the startpage only, like I can with every other page.

In my snews 1.6 projects, I can position an "extra" content to either - all, home, or any one category available from the drop-down list in the Customize panel. Does it not work that way for you?

I create a static page. I create an extra content and add it to the page. It works fine.
Now I define this page as the startpage in the admin panel. It does not show the extra content after that.
I can define the extra content to the home category (instead of the specific page) and it will show up now.
But: It will now show up on every static page, because all pages belong to the home category.

So if I define one page as the start page I cannot asign extra content to this page only.

with 1.6.

to make clear what I'd like to do is: use the extra content for the sidebar and the articles/pages for the main column. it would be great if I can assign the extra content for every page/category independently. I think snews is close to this, but it doesn't work 100%.
