hi

i tried accessing one of my sites this morning, only to find the above error message. I downloaded the snews.php file, and saw that all the content from line 340 and on has been removed. what happened, and why?

Probably your original upload timed out in the middle of the process. I've had that happen as well. Reupload snews.php and once the upload is done, check the size of the uploaded file. You want it to be the same as the file on your hard drive...

No one should be able to replace files in your domain root directory... the only way that can happen is if they can access your server root directory using an FTP client. They can't do that through your sNews admin system if they did happen to "hack" your site... but they could add more files into your root directory by uploading them from the files admin panel.

hi key. thanks. i've uploaded again. will see what happens. it might really be a case of the ftp upload not completing. hope it is that...

Has your server previously been compromised, either through sNews or some other means?  If so, check your server for strange files that you didn't upload - which could grant a hacker access to the shell.  However, if a hacker did have access, it is unlikely they would delete half your snews.php code.
