I am redesigning my site and currently I think the design is lacking *something*.  Can anyone give me a some ideas on how to improve this design?

As you can see, it will be a single column blog/portfolio page.

I think it looks good - very clean.
Personally I think the header is perhaps too big.  And the middle diagonal lines don't seem to fit in nicely with the other two - could try removing it and placing the centred|design logo inbetween the 2 diagonal blocks?

I think the header is to big. You have to show some content, not just eye-candy above the fold. Show at least a header/title, relevant to the  page. Even if its a portfolio.

Not to disagree, but I personally like the header image.  I like how the elements force the eye to the content elements on the page. See below.

Here is the latest.  The comments have not changed at all

Movements of elements as I mentioned

Here's what I'd do if it was my design:

Of course, I'd change the logo font as well because I get the heebee-jeebies from that angled one... but that's if it  truly was my design.

Something I think you should consider is to fade back the reflection of the top boxes a lot, they are obtrusive as it is. The rest is just a suggestion. ;)

I think the last version looks best, its true that the previous header took up alot of screen real estate, but to each his own. If you are really keen on something similar to the first versions you could perhaps have something along those lines at an entrypage or something like that.

At the end of the day you should still do what makes you happy, nothing wrong with a big header as such, its just personal preference.
