1.5.31 not allowing articles with tags (even on admin mode)
« on: February 22, 2007, 08:01:27 pm »

I know 1.5.31 has had some real fixing issues regarding entering code or tags on all the forms.

However, don't you think that when in admin mode, there should be allowed, as before, all the tags?

This is how I solve this now-a-days:

I have the old and new snews.php file on the server and when I need to insert an article with tags and just replace the new snews.php for the old one, insert the article and then put the new snews back on.

What do you mean code or tags? I have not had any issues with my installations at all with using HTML tags inside of articles. Could you have possibly meant something else?

I used
,

, and " and '

Don't know which one was preventing my article from being approved. Two things I know, clean text was ok and with the old snews.php file (.30) the article went throught without any issues.

Klaus... I am using the latest 1.5.31 snews.php file in one of my offline test-sites... in fact I just downloaded the one I am currently working with yesterday. I am using it with a database that came with 1.5.30 (before the security mods were added). The

As Keyrocks stated all the HTML tags should work. The ' and " will cause something to go wrong, this is a known issue. You could try the ASCII format of those punctuation marks like
Code: [Select]
& #34;(remove the space between the & and # that will give you the character "

That's it then. Which ones?  Both " and ' ?
How about inside html tags, like :(

I know I have used the double quote = " so it is possible the single quote is causing the problems. Without trying first hand I am not sure.

I will check it out and post back with my own findings.

EDIT: I tried all the tags again within a post and did not have an issue with any character in the main body of the article.

Found the problem!
“ = ok
’ = ok
‘ = ok
' = NOT ok

I am not using an English keyboard and the only one I have on my keyboard is the last one :(

Ahh ok that is why I could not reproduce the issue, I have an English keyboard. I do not see the difference from here though since I only have English characters installed on my PC, but glad you found the issue.

Just a quck update. Problem seems to be.... NOTEPAD, lol.

Yes, I am serious, try to write an artcle on notepad, make sure it uses some ' , copy paste it to snews and try to add it...

Seems like it converts the ' into ' ...

Your example of what you are typing in and what you are getting converted both look the same here.
Your problem must have to do with the keyboard language you are using. I use Notepad a lot to prepare article content... with html tags... single quotes and double quotes... all work fine. I use english keyboard settings and have no problems at all.

No... they aren't. I see what you are referring to now. OK.
I am not sure how you get the 4th example in your post #9.
On my cheapo $9.00 "Keytronic" keyboard, My quote key is located  exactly to the left of the ENTER key, and it gives me the " (your first example) in UPPER CASE mode... and the ' (your 3rd example) in lower-case mode. This is the only key I have to create all quotations... and I get no problems in any of my sNews content. In Windows XP settings... I also have my keyboard setting to "English (United States)".
