newbie help with a page design
« on: January 24, 2007, 05:43:23 am »

Greetings all,

I need some help with a project im working on. firstly, the project is for a hotspot operator who want to have customizable login pages. Each customer who operates a hotspot at their business premises must have the option of having a login page which they can customize and update as they see fit.

the original design, which i am currently building, is a page which has my login script at the top of the page and an iframe calling whatever page the customer wants, this is also where the customizable page will sit. i think it has to be done this way for security, i couldnt give the vendor access to the page with my login scripts, hence i call it to an iframe.

some of the customers will be hotels who want to be able to put their menu for the day on the page, how do i create a page that will let me do this? also, any ideas on other methods which would provide security without the need for an iframe?

7aken, it doesn't sound like you're using sNews for this project? If you look at the announcement in the greenish box above, no, higher up ... there, yes. And if that's not enough, this particular section of the sNews user forum deals with sNews 1.5 webdesign issues. Now, I would offer some help if I could but I don't have any solution for you, so do a search on other webdesign centered websites first, ok? Most likely you'll need a switch of some sort (if you know your way around php you'll know hat that means.)

Have a look at some advanced content management systems - I recommend Website Baker, CMS Made Simple or Joomla for what you want to achieve. Failing those, have a browse around :)
