« on: December 14, 2006, 03:00:08 am »

Hi all,

How do I include the bgsleight.js into sNews? I don't know where to include the tag?

Any insight would be MOST appreciated.

so, you've been checking out my source code, huh?
well, you just put the reference to the bgsleight.js in the head part of your index.php.
Blow-by-blow? oki-doki (can't sleep anyways...)

1. Store the bgsleight.js file in a clever place. I like to keep my script files all together in a folder called "js" or sometimes "scripts". Easy to find.

2. Open index.php in an editor.

3a. [If you don't care which browser family reads bgsleight.js (it targets IE specifically as you know)]
type the following somewhere in your head section, I go title, meta tags, rel links (your stylesheets, your favicons, your RSS'), general scripts, IE specific scripts. Again, makes things easy to find (and remember).
The code:
Quote
3b. [if you just want IE browsers to read the script]
Same procedure as 3a, but use this code instead:

or you can do (3c, if you only want to target IE 6 and earlier)

Targeting IE specifically with a conditional is a good idea if you're concerned about bandwidth issues, but I'd suggest you do some thorough testing. I've had enough reports of IE6 both seeing and not seeing "if lt IE7" not to trust it 100%. These days, with IE 5, 5.5, 6 and 7 arguing over who is the real IE, I just roll with 3b.
I never liked IE much anyway. :D

Oh and, sorry if I've regurgitated stuff you already know. You can never know too much, my Mama always say...

hm, having slept a bit I have to say that sleep is highly underrated. Such a nice dream I had!
And I also notice that writing code while sleep-depraved is not so hot.
The conditonals in my post above should be written:
