* Added simple template support.
* Added tinymce and and Validation code from sNews Forum (dont remember the usernames).
* Separated config file from core.
* Separated language from config file.
* Hack for title from forum added (great idea).

Good-day bet0x:

Well... installed and tested your modded snews 1.4 package this morning and it ran fine after a couple of changes. These notes are for anyone else test running this package.

1. If installing this package in a folder within your server root directory, you will need to open the core/modules.php file and add the name of your site folder to the file-paths in all 3 includes statements. Otherwise, you will get a couple of warning messages saying that it was "unable to open...".

2. When I changed the language variable in config.php to "english" from "spanish", the lang_english.php file in the lang folder would not display any english language variables. I re-saved the lang_english.php file as lang_english1.php, then changed the language variable to "english1", and the english language displayed OK.
NOTE: I have no idea why this was necessary, but it worked. :)

Files in Modules Folder
Your modified package removes the function statement
Code: [Select]
from the main template (index.php) and puts it into a file of its own called news.php in the new modules folder. Function center() within core/snews.php continues to serve the center content as it does in the "stock" version of sNews 1.4.

And you've noted in your docs/changelog file that you can create a module file and call it by entering it in your browser address bar. As an example, you have a "test.php" file in the modules folder that contains the single function statement
Code: [Select]
, which - in turn - displays a phpinfo panel when this module file is called in the browser address bar.

Questions for bet0x:
1. Where is the actual function phpcredits() located?

2. Are you planning to develop or modify functions so that a user of this package will be able to post articles or content specifically by module page? Or, do module pages/files need to be created as php functions (in some other location) and then have module files created to call them with a single function statement?

3. Are you developing a way of displaying module names somewhere automatically?

Thanks bakercad... we learn day by day (hehe).
I guess what I'm looking for is clarification in regards to questions 2 and 3.

 * You can make PHP or HTML , i only add a include page support, nothing hard.

3. Are you developing a way of displaying module names somewhere automatically?

 * Like a module List? , yes, in a future.

Well, im bad for write english, but i will try explain this situation-

1.- I code these features, and add anothers from users but i want use like a CMS.
2.- sNews is simple and perfect , but i want make a personal mod, and share with ppl who want something like me.
3.- Im a PHP Coder, in a lot of projects, also Linux developer, so what i can do if i see a good project with lack of features?, simple i add these features.
4.- If dont like my job please ok, use normal sNews.
5.- Im waiting for 1.5 sNews do to a big hack :P so again ppl.
6.- Security problems come from bad administrators and bad coders, or just human mistakes, but a simple mod system its not an error, read the code dude :).

Thats all.

Ok, so I've decided to delete all posts not relevant to this thread due to possible missunderstandings and for the purpose to keep this kind of threads clean with just posts relevant to the actual mod/addon/module, ok...

This is not done in disrespect of anyone. Just as a measurement in order to keep posts about what they're supposed to be about.

Complaints about this action should go directly to me or Luka !!

Patric.

NOW - in order to keep betox's post clean, is it ok if I delete our little debate when everyone's read it....???
Ok - fine by me... the debate adds no value to the actual mod-pak. Bet0x has been good enough to share it and that's what sNews modding is all about. Whether one uses any mod or not is a voluntary decision.

My... Patric... you are an efficient moderator this morning (9:05 a.m. at my place)... gone before my post answering your "question" went thru. Good work!

Has anyone got a copy of these files? All links in first post are dead.
I wish to have a look at them to see if I can do something similar with sNews 1.5 in relation to seperating various functions from snews.php

my apologies to the sNews crew, but I will be MIA for the forseeable future

Hey Pix: You can download a copy of Betox's mega-mod 1.4 Zip File here. This one was working OK on my machine as of this a.m. and no additional changes have been made to it. You'll notice that this is a very FAT version of sNews 1.4 - the Zip is about 1.7 MB in size and the un-zipped package (excluding the database) is about 2.71MB in size.
