Title: 404 error displays the code for the index file
Post by: nuno on March 11, 2009, 01:26:18 pm
Hi, I have been experiencing some strange behavior around the 404 error. If for whatever reason the site directs to the 404 page, instead of showing the 404 message the browser displays half the code from the index.php file.

So if I force the site into a 404 by entering the following address www.mysite.com/404/ what the user sees is the bottom half of the index.php code

Has anyone had experience of similar?

thanks a lot

Did you modify the source anywhere?
In my experience, this kind of thing usually results from a bug introduced by changing some code.
I haven't seen this on any of my pages but I sure have seen lots of other wierd stuff while making changes and getting things to work.

thanks for the reply, i've got someway there -

In my categories I had one which included the '&' character. It was called 'Special Features & Articles'. When I removed the '&' to 'Special Features Articles' the 404 page sort of shows now but the page doesn't pick up the CSS styling

Strangely enough though it works perfectly fine on the localhost
