Title: [ADDON] Random Quotes
Post by: stam on February 05, 2006, 12:09:57 am

I'm rather a php n00b, but I've tried to make a little addon for sNews. I hope you find it handy  ;D
It's a little script that can randomly rotate as many quotes as you want and supports html tags. Maybe quotes from famous men in history or jokes or testimonials or whatever :)
You can see a working example at (on the left... reload the page to see the random effect in action).

Steps I've taken:

1. Open snews.php and go to line 605 (well you can choose another line if you like, just make sure it's outside any other function.

2. Add the following piece of code:
Code: [Select]
function quotes() {

$quotes[] = "Your first quote!";
$quotes[] = "“Another one!„

Name, Country";

srand ((double) microtime() * 1000000);
$randomquote = rand(0,count($quotes)-1);

echo $quotes[$randomquote];
3. Open index.php and add the following piece of code where you want the quotes to appear:
Code: [Select]
That's it! You're done!

Is easy to integrate in sNews and very useful for anyone want to use it or develop it further.
