Title: category named articles
Post by: bobcat on December 04, 2006, 11:49:45 am
Hi i'm using RC3 snew 1.5 and have tried to name a category as 'articles'.

This seems to be causing problems as the admin used 'articles' as a page. Can this be changed so articles can operate as a normal category name?

Thanks

Yes, it can be changed - I was thinking of adding prefix to all hardcoded categories defined in language variables section $l['cat_listSEF'] but I need you to suggest something in order to maintain its possible seo value. How about adding _ to them?

yes i think that _ would probably be the easiest clearest way to differentiate categories/admin variables.

think it is pretty important to have the option to name a category as 'articles', especially as seeing a main use of snews is as a news and article publisher.

Okay then, I'll add prefix _ to hardcoded categories; I think it shouldn't diminish seo value...

I know this is a simple matter of find-and-replace, but i have been unable to do this myself after 2 days trying.
I would be very greatful if someone could post or PM a copy of the snews.php files modified to use _articles instead of articles (as is currently)
Thanks.

I'm finalizing 1.5 documentation at the moment so I don't have much time for modding... could you wait just a while longer?
