Magic? No. Just CSS. All is revealed in the <head>, here:
http://www.frdk.com/lab/aktivplay.html
/*does short fluorishing gesture of waving hands and bow to mimick a grand presentation*/

Note: looks as expected in Safari 3, no guarantees for other browsers, simply because I haven't tested in all browsers and FF for example calculates padding and margin differently than Safari. That said, most standards compliant browsers on most OSs will handle stuff correctly...

/* I updated the page with a more long-winded explanation, in case the head style code doesn't do it. */

Fred,

You presenting me a tutorial for newbies? No straight answer?
I can only conclude, you can not style the background of the text different from the li background without using an extra element. That of course, I already knew. Since I know my way with css too.  8)

???
Why ask one thing when you want (?) another answered?
No, of course there's no way to style the background of the li text differently without using an extra element, that's self-evident. I suspect it wasn't even a question. My question is how many do you think will need to do that on a regular basis?

PS. If you dress yourself in a Newbie-costume, chances are you'll get replies aimed at newbies, but then the tut wasn't aimed only at you, cause I don't think you're the only one reading this thread. reasonably. Oh, gosh, I've used too many words again... Feel free to remove a bunch. 8)

It was a question Fred and persistent/consistent in every post. Narrowed down to a few lines of code here:
http://snewscms.com/forum/index.php?topic=5143.msg43346#msg43346

and visualized here:
http://www.perceptieman.tomaatnet.nl/silly_me.html

If someone with that much knowledge, tells me it can be done, then I ask how. Some nifty hacks like sticky footer, I found through you. Maybe there are more. How newbie is that?

But it seems you didn't  understand the purpose of the span and didn't understand the related question. Ok, my bad.

Joost or anyone... I'm using the "Another article menu" MOD and it works wonderfully. One though. I would like to be able to limit the articles presented, like in articles_menu (0,5)... Is there a way to do that ? And in such case how ?

and before anyone asks, it's for 1.6 site.
