Yes, I have, but not in recent years.  ;D

Perhaps you remember this Addon: TinyMCE Editor with sNews Skin using TinyMCE version 3.4.3.2 - it should work with all sNews 1.6 versions too.

The three steps are, of course, for a default installation of sNews 1.7 or 1.6.
For an Snews 1.6 MEMU package, the first two steps are the same.

For an MEMU package, Step 3 would have to be applied in the index.php file for each of the templates you have in your templates directory, so that it would be available in those templates when an admin is logged in.

Copy and paste the Step 3 script into each template's index.php file as directed, and test run your installation to see if it the TinyMCE panel is visible when you are logged in as admin.

If it does not work, try this option instead:
The Step 3 script may need to be placed before the existing line 1 in each template's index.php file.
Copy & paste the Step 3 script into the top of each index.php file so that it starts on line 1 in the file.

Give it a try and see what happens.  :)

// if (_ADMIN)
should be there more things like tokken and level?

Yes, you are correct.

If no changes have been made to the user levels in the snusers.php file in your mods folder, then:
Level 1 = Administrator (all privileges)
Level 2 = Super Editor
Level 3 = Editor
Level 4 = User

In any sNews 1.6 MU (multiple users) version (using the default user levels), we would need to replace if (_ADMIN) { with:
if (get_identity($_SESSION['id'], 'level') < '4') {

This new string checks the session identity of the logged-in user to see what his User Level is, and if it is < '4' (less than 4) the TinyMCE textarea panel will be visible to Levels 1, 2, and 3.

If you have TinyMCE's default Emoticons plugin installed and activated, check to make sure you have it initiated correctly:
Initializing - TinyMCE Emoticons Plugin

There is also a Smileys Plugin for TinyMCE that may be worth checking out - just be sure that it is compatible with whichever version of TinyMCE you are using: TinyMCE Smileys Plugin
