Useful tool
« on: November 01, 2009, 12:59:19 PM »

I notice that in the Help (useful tools) section of sNews Website there is a link for DiffMerge software but only for Windows.
This software exist also for MacOS X and Linux and of course Windows and  it's free.
You can find it here http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/

Enjoy  ;)

Actually I also try another one : Komodo Edit
It looks good and you can add functionality with Add-Ons like Firefox.
By default there is a Diffmerge files solution in it and with the "Side by Side Diffs" add-on we can see each files side by side.
I also find HTML Entities add-on.

Actually I'm using Smultron on my Mac, but the developer stop it  :( So I try to find a new one for futur release of OS X.

Coda by Panic is my goto suggestion. For its low price, incredibly feature-rich and stable on OSX 10.6.1. Other suggestions are BBEdit or the free version TextWrangler, alternatively SubEthaEdit (but I haven't used either of those since finding Coda). Coda lets you, among other things, do side-by-side window comparisons (although I don't think it has a built in diff merge, I haven't actually checked that, but there might be a plugin for it as Coda has an open source plugin architecture), visual CSS (like CSSEdit), built-in Terminal with SSL connection, etc etc. (I'm not affiliated with Panic, I just happen to like their apps. A lot ;) .)

Yes I know Coda, it's a good one too but not free   ;)
I'm already using Transmit for FTP and maybe I will try a second time Coda.
But I was talking about Komodo Edit because it's an open source software and it's working in windows, Linux and Mac platform. And it seems to be expandable...
But I like a lot Smultron and it will be hard to change  :P
When we have habits it's hard to change, sic...
