Bumpbox - an alternative to Lightbox
« on: August 06, 2009, 04:08:06 PM »

The section says "minimal core alteration", here it is none...

I think this is an awsome thingy: http://p-ahlqvist.com/webdesign/tipsntrix/a-lightbox-alternative-bumpbox/

Easily implemented and cool to use...

Oh, don't mention it Popman, hehe...

Adding another one here...

This time it's a JQuery slider, based on the 2kb JFlow script:

Adding another one here... This time it's a JQuery slider, based on the 2kb JFlow script:

This IS a nice little script Patric.
This would make an ideal module to run with my sNews 1.6 Modular project.
One could then insert a function-name into any location in the index.php file (sNews 1.6) to display it where they lik in the template.
The admin interface for it would be modelled on the same one used now for the Businesses and Calendar modules, which already allows for insert of an image (or 2) along with an entry's content. The Admin could then add, edit or delete entries for display in the template. This modile would have its own dbase 'jayflow' table to store the entries, and its own images folder to keep its images separate from the site's other images.

I need to add this to my winter modules work list.

Mhm, cool site, Doug.. Thanks for link to my article.

I find your idea regarding JFlow awsome... Would like that incorporated in snews 1.7, hehe.... (or possibly 2.0 when that arrives)

I have not tried yet, but I believe the module management system should work with 1.7. I developed it to be as version independent as possible yet still seamlessly integrated. I haven't explored 1.7 enough yet to be comfortable modding it.

Two reasons I haven't been doing much sNoozing lately... I've been working on a national ASP.NET project since January... have been learning to work with ASP and doing the development on an online demo location... not easy. This month I built a new super-fast, quad-core development machine with tons of ram and XP Pro so I can run Microsoft's IIS and Apache on the same machine (not both at once of course). I have my Apache localhost environment running smoothly again with XAMPP but still not finished getting my ASP environment running. Add to that the summer Honey-Doo list that never seems to get shorter... only longer. Man, I never thought I'd say this but I am looking forward to winter coming so I can spend more time on sNews.  :P

@ Patric... have a look at the U.S. White House Home Page. It is using a script that's doing the same as your demo script. I am sure they have an admin interface to manage the content though.
