Intergration problem for 1.6 MU

Intergration problem for 1.6 MU...

Right, well i tried 1.6, and came across MU, and i thought, hey thats exactly what i want, since i didn't have any content, i deleted the old 1.6 database, and inserted the new database. I didn't want to use a folder, so i put snewsMU.php into my normal directory (where my template is)

But anyway, the problem is, that it's blank when i type www.hypergamer.net/snewsMU.php it just appears blank, the database config is correct, else it would say a error, and the intergration i did on the template seems fine enough to display "Content not found"

So what's going wrong? i have not edited anything except the database information.

Well, I think your trying to access the motor, engine and that just isn't right... Leave that snewsMU.php out of there, and you'll see something ;)

Yep, point your browser to index.php. Better said: Point it to the folder where index.php lives

ugh, i did, but http://www.hypergamer.net/index.php/login/ ?????

Is there a reason why it's not loading my stylesheet? im really confused, it's not picking up my website layout..

The problem is, i want to access the admin panel, but where has that even gone, im so confused, everything is how it should be,

   $db['website'] = 'http://www.hypergamer.net/'; //URL to your domain

That's correct, http://hypergamer.net/snewsMU.php just appears blank.... and when its in the folder,

http://hypergamer.net/snewsMU/

It just appears as my index, without the stylesheet....

This is a custom theme im using, ugh... -.-

Did you try the following change (red, underlined) in .htaccess

<IfModule mod_php4.c>
    php_value session.use_trans_sid 0
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /snewsMU
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteRule ^(.*) $1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?category=$1 [L]

ok, just had a look at http://www.hypergamer.net/snewsMU/

Then had a look at the links.
All point to http://localhost/snewsMU/[Something]/

So, I would hazard a guess you haven't got htaccess &/or db settings correct.

Ive got it working, thanks for the .htaccess tip, but now its screwed up smf, what the.. eek...

The admin system seems to all be working now, i can see and write articles, erm, was changing the .htaccess the right thing to do, it's conflicted with smf i think.. "http://www.hypergamer.net/board/index.php/board,1.0.html"

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@hypergamer.thegtaplanet.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any help there? I see you run smf here, so what have i done wrong for smf to break?

At the time you looked at it, i edited it, if you look now its fine, its all working, but smf is now.. well... dead, i think the file i swapped changed the smf to something it doesn't like...

nope, still not right... which htaccess did you edit???
links from http://www.hypergamer.net/snewsMU/ eg Archive points to
http://www.hypergamer.net/archive/ when it should be pointing to
http://www.hypergamer.net/snewsMU/archive/

likewise all other links.

... and please, keep it in this place... no need for PM's ;)

Sorry, but im somewhat, freaking out here,

Right, my snewsMU.php is now in my main directory.

www.hypergamer.net/snewsMU.php

Seems when i moved the .htaccess to my main directory, to make that work, it conflicted with my forum, smf, and now thats getting a internal error, the snews seems to be working fine, im freaking out so much right now, becuase, i don't know how to fix smf, ive never messed with the .htaccess file before, and i didn't make a backup of the orginal one in my main directory, which holds the site.

The actual forum directory is www.hypergamer.net/board

Could you please look, if you look at any of the links now displayed on there, it now says

http://www.hypergamer.net/board/index.php/board,52.0.html

Instead of

http://www.hypergamer.net/board/index.php?board=52.0

Im really confused, as ive said, ive never messed with a .htaccess file before, and since i wanted to intergrate snewsMU with my site, i moved everything to my main directory, heh, help would gladly be appeciated, snews works ! But in the process more forum broke... -.-

Alright it seems im in abit of a pickle...

Snews is installed in my root directory, and requires the .htaccess file, sadly, when placed there, it conflicts with smf, which is in root/board

Any idea's on getting around this?

Like philmoz explained, the forum is the place to discuss issues.
It seeems that both .htaccess files are conflicting. I have no real insight in this matter, since SMF is creating ots file on the spot.
I do notice however, the forum software is rewriting uri like sNews does. Did you edit the "RewriteBase" line like I suggested?

Ok  right, can snewsMU work with a index thats outside of it's directory? without  the index.php's directory having the .htaccess in the same directory?

Root: index.php

Root/snewsMU/style.css
Root/snewsMU/.htaccess
Root/snewsMU/snewsMU.php

Like that? becuase i cannot put the .htaccess file into my index.php, becuase it conflicts with SMF, and makes it stop functioning properly.
