I think it should keep its name. sNews has a positive reputation already and I think sNews should be allowed to develop to sNews2Go. :D
BTW tuesday has passed by. Where and when is our next version comming.......

sNews 2 get's my vote. When snews2go will be released it kind of hooks on snews2. It's so selfexplainatory really.

I just realized that sNews2 and sNews2GO could be mistaken.

In case someone still don't know what sNews2GO is, here's an info:

You get to select the language, sNews version, additional mods, template
and some other things and the system spits out a zip file which you only
need to upload and run on your server.

Offcourse, the system is nearly done and should be hopefuly ready with
the launch of the new site. Also, I'm pretty busy with the documentation
which I'll post on the forum for reviewing and spelling check.

I have to say 1.5...  :/

I think that version 2.0 should be once sNews has a plugin option... : )
not a mod-thingie but a decent plugin IDE... (like wordpress for example)
something that after that we can actually see MAJOR improvement in sNews developemnt by everyone... : )

a plugin system will have to consider priority, location, execution, paths, enviroment... it should be able to figure out where in the main snews.php each code fragment should be executed, prioritize it depending on other plugins etc... (it goes a long way)...

This is something that would change sNews completely... : )

I concur - 1.5 is the way to go for now I think.  Not sure what you've got planned for the next version but I think its more of an evolutionary thing rather than a big new release with loads and loads of new features?

Basically to cut a long story short - if its "compatible" with 1.4 (i.e. similar operation, similar database tables, similar template structure/integration stratergy  etc etc), call it 1.5.  If its a huge new change in the way everything is done then go for 2.0!

Anyway - not sure any of that made sense! :D

Mattd, I think it did make sense, so much that I have to agree and bow in defeat of argument. My previous opinion is now a leftover from bad thinking, I must concur with mattd and analyzerx...If the new release is a total makeover, then go with snews2, otherwise it should be 1.5...

I'm all for 1.5 too, save version 2 for something truly spectacular, or a complete code change/direction ;)
