Adding e-mail field to comments
« on: October 22, 2007, 06:02:56 PM »

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I posted, but that's mainly because my sNews site (sNews 1.5) is giving me the sum total of NO trouble at all  ;D

Anyway, this is possibly a stupid question, but could someone direct me as to how to add an e-mail field to the comments part of an article? I thought it might be something in the snews.php file, but I can't figure it out  ???

:(

(And I hope I posted this in the right forum!)

Hi Janpd,

Nice to hear that sNews does  its work properly

Your question: not so easy. If you want to do the modding yourself, then consider this
-   you have to add an extra field to the commentstable in the database and adjust a couple of sql-queries
-   you have to modify the commentsform (function comment())
-   you have to check the input for malicious  code (function comment())
-   you have to validate the e-mailaddress (new function)
-   you have to modify the edit-comment form in the administration panel (function edit_comment())
-   you have to modify the function processing()
-   you have to add some language variables.

I probably forget some other things. If this scares you, maybe there is somebody who has has some time to spend and will make the mod for you.

Yes, well, that's seriously scary! I don't think I'm equipped to handle it... I should let sleeping dogs lie  ;)
