What should next sNews version have?
There are some functions we already agreed about and will come up in the next version.

* Note that mods and addons will be developed from this point, so we're only making a list of things to be modified or added to enhance usabillity of the main engine.

List:
·Breadcrumbs (eg. Home > Design > My Design

·Remove files inclusion on RSS ([include] function)

·Reorganize archives to show articles by month and year

·Abillity to change order of menu items and categories [integrated]

·Add an optional layer (
) for individual articles [integrated]

Luka, would be interesting to think to add a function of pagination in the routines 'search' and 'archive'.
Thanks Luka for your effort!! ;)

List:
·more features on contact page..drop down email recipient etc.

·rss feeds for categories..I assume by making a different select call from the database

·some kind of keyword tagging system or tag cloud (extra table in the db - option to add these at editing time) which can then be automatically displayed under an article post by calling a page function..therefore on a page by page basis, and maybe also leading to the development of a standard 'Related Articles' (by keyword/title) page function

·option to enter meta keywords/description at editing

·option to add an Authors name in the absence of a multi-user system..switchable of course

·mutli-user system..multi-language system

phew..better stop there before Luka strings me up alive and accuses me of trying to steal his life away!!!! just some thoughts ;D

Might have been said before, but just to emphasize them again :P My suggestions:

- Multi user (I'm really missing this feature)
- Pagination in general (so not only archive/search as bramsyuur wrote)
- Edit-general-settings-page live on a seperate page (like the page where you can edit Categories) so you won't have to edit snews.php
- An installer like the one Analyzerx (?? -hope i remember correctly) made.
- Can't think of anything more right now, will post here when I do

Hi Vitor..read this article ok?
http://www.icant.co.uk/articles/cssconstants/

there is a way to do this and it works, but involves some code fiddling

And you could also do this by using Albert's code here:
http://solucija.com/forum/index.php?topic=242.0

or maybe Luka's code here:
http://solucija.com/forum/index.php?topic=432.msg3818#msg3818

let us know how you get on ;D

To reply to your post:
1) Sounds more like you need a forum :P
2) Yeah I agree, I had that in my post too
3) I think this is not going to happen, but search this forum for texttoapi or something like that, there's a mod somewhere that allows you to store articles etc in files, not in mysql.

Luka, will you add some of the items to your first post in this topic?

Yeah I will, we'll just have to debate on certain things. The greatest thing would be to have a live settings on your site, but you'll still have to enter database info in snews.php

@Dexter:
I'll respond to the third point you bring up...Dobey, another distinguished member of the PHP guru people on this here forum have made a flatfile version of the sNews script...It's currently working with ver 1.3, I think but ver 1.4 has yet to be developed... Read more on that here: http://solucija.com/forum/index.php?topic=90.0

Download it: http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1448

And visit Dobey's flatfile site to see how it works...: http://rjs-phpscripts.berlios.de/

He's "da man" on flatfile's ;)
