[Preview]New template "Stockholm" for sNews
« on: April 11, 2007, 09:10:20 PM »

It's not entirely done, but close enough to preview at least. This template is readymade for wNews 1.5.31, with a couple of extra goodies thrown in. Hopefully I'll have a downloadable package ready by the end of the week if current business flow allows it... ;)

It is very good. I really like it.
Only suggestion goes to the text at bottom of the page, IMHO it is a little too big and too "white". I like when it is discret.

@pandaboy: yes, as soon as it's finished. Watch this space, as they say.
@mattonik and Dux: Thanks. Remember that this is a template. If you don't like the green stripes you can change the colour of the stripes or the colour or size of text bits. That's all up to you. Once it's released of course..

Thanks for the nice reviews, I'll take that with me. ;)

I also like it although it isn't really my cup of tea... But I appriciate the work behind it, and actually after viewing it a coupla of times...it's getting to me ;) It is kind of "Jeans designer" over it, no ?

I like it too, but I would've made the green stripes something that would blend in more, like black.

Thanks, glad you likes it. And, as I said before, once I've created the package you can download and change it to your heart's content -- it being a template and all. And free! ;) All that's left to do is making a new spiffy index page for the templates section and a Web-Two-Dot-Oh download icon (must have me one of those!). Meanwhile, you can play with it live here: http://www.frdk.com/templates/stockholm/

I've changed a few details and added some others, most notably perhaps bakercad & avenir's Related Articles mod.

Caveat: I haven't made any effort what so ever to make it work the best possible way in IE. I leave that up to those of you who choose to support that browser. (That said, it works in IE. It just might not work as good there as in standards compliant browsers. Actually, in my tests IE7 renders it very well indeed, but that' probably more from dumb luck than anything else... :D )

pandaboy, if you download the template package and open the Photoshop CS2 file* named "scantop2.psd" you will notice that you already have that image. Simply deactivate the cat's eye layer and activate the top layer to get the grungey look. You can also modify the "scanlines" layer by changing the color overlay, adding filters and changing the layer luminosity to get a wide variety of effects. So there's plenty of stuff you can do with the provided files.

N.B the cat's eye image is provided courtesy of stock.xchng (www.sxc.hu) and is not for reselling.

---
*) Obviously Photoshop CS2 or better is required to open the PSD files. Send me a PM or email if you don't have access to Photoshop CS2 or better.
