[MOD] Accessibility Boost Two-step (sNews 1.5)
« Reply #15 on: December 22, 2006, 03:59:37 AM »

(Two) -- Are you sure about this? I ask because when producing a couple of the articles on my snews site I wrote them offline in text files that I later included in articles with the (include) function and any tags within these included text files -- one was .txt the other .html -- were not preserved, I had to rewrite the html entities (both for php and ordinary html tags in the text). I assumed this was for security reasons and that's why I didn't suggest using the include method previously. I had it on the tip of my tounge, but I swallowed it. Promise. :D
Have you tested the method? Is it working? If so, isn't that a) kinda cool for admins and b) kinda insecure otherwise? (Just asking.)

Yes... it is working on my XP machine with XAMPP offline - haven't tried it online yet. Again... I created the .txt file with the function link (only) in it... inserted the anchor mid-way in the article text (in the edit textarea)... then scrolled down to the end of the article text and inserted the include tags to include the file at the end of the article text which... ultimately... displays the link at the end of the article. Clicking the link from the normal article view page (in home) brings me to the middle of the article.

Yes... it is "kinda cool for admins". But I don't see it as being insecure otherwise... since file uploading is only done through the Admin Upload Panel... and PHP directly into any textarea will not execute.

Very inspiring. This makes the mod even usefuller than I planned. I just assumed, because my code tags wouldn't print before, it wasn't possible, but you're encouraging! Have to see this myself /* scuttles off to test */

Freddy?
Bravo.
This Mod works great for sNews 1.6 too!
Maybe it should be duplicated to be listed into the 1.6 Mod forum.
It might be usefull for some snoozers using this version.

Perhaps it should. I just never got around to it, and it's a simplistic mod which will work in 1.6 (the differences between 1.6 and 1.5 doesn't affect this mod or indeed a number of other "simple" mods.) I will repost it for 1.7 though -- the differences are bigger from 1.5/1.6 to 1.7.
