RC2 is slow
« on: October 18, 2006, 04:21:33 PM »

I don't know these are my hoster's problems (they say there're no problems at all), but after I changed to RC2, it seemed faster at first, but I was mistaken, it was slower!

Does anybody know the way (or ways) to speed up snews cms page generation time?

Gzip and such aren't working.

database related routines (especially admin tasks) are somewhat faster (this has been tested & compared with RC1; my microtime result on localhost was 15% better in RC2 than RC1)

please do take your hosting provider capabilities into consideration as well as your template code, graphics, external scripts such as adsense or rss feeds etc... not to mention your custom coding...

A couple of us are already running RC2 online; visit our sites and compare our speed to yours (you can find URI-s next to user name or signature)

Thank you, mika, would you be so generous to delete this topic. It's useless for others.

But, yes, at first I noticed 10-15% speedup... But...

I think I need to change my hoster...

=)

I wanted it to be surprise, mika. At the moment my website (It's gonna be www.photoskill.ru) is 70% ready, but I wanted to present it to the net only after bugtesting and (now...) MySQL problems solving.

After I move to the new hosting I promise to show you my creation =)

And I promise to make at least one descent template to add to your collection.

BTW: mika, what does your microtimer show? How long does it take to generate a page on your site?

I don't think the application as a whole is slower, but as written, it takes longer to post a simple article with a picture than it did with 1.4. I actually liked the simplicity of the "image" field, etc.

Less is more.

Cheers
