Stumbled upon this tool for reading web sites aloud: http://www.browsealoud.com/page.asp?pg_id=70001
Their reader is free and available for Windows and Mac users. Making a web site readable by the reader does cost something, I'm currently awaiting info about that. Anywho, thought it might be of interest.

Opera 9 will read web pages aloud. I can't remember the details right now but I did explore this feature and found it read rather well except that it tended to run some words together without a pause... minor detail. When you have the feature on, I seem to remember that you just highlight the text you want read aloud and away it goes. I don't think the site has to be 'engineered' for it to be read by Opera. Work is progressing well on the use of audio-css to do it tho.

yep, true. Opera 9 Windows will read things aloud, I gather. Opera 9 Mac won't, yet. (Granted, Windows' aural features are better than Mac's but then screenreader developers could do more to oomph the Mac side of it too. At least Browsealoud are trying.) (Not saying that automatically makes it good tho, I haven't tested the reader properly yet.)

You can install it and see what it's like. I did and just uninstalled it cause it had too many bugs.
