XML-RPC integration?

Not a whole lot of explanation here on this one. Need for what? ... thought... or XML... or RPCs... or speed? The speed of what? :)

The speed? I dont think integrating XML-RPC will affect the speed of anything really, but I'm not actually sure what you are referring to.

I think keyrocks was asking WTF is XML-RPC and what is it good for, but I could be wrong. Key?
**presses some keys on computer, in random order, finds Wikipedia page on subject**

Quote from: WikiPedia
XML-RPC is a remote procedure call protocol which uses XML to encode its calls and HTTP as a transport mechanism. It is a very simple protocol, defining only a handful of data types and commands, and the entire description can be printed on two pages of paper. This is in stark contrast to most RPC systems, where the standards documents often run into the thousands of pages and require considerable software support in order to be used.
It was first created by Dave Winer of UserLand Software in 1998 with Microsoft. As new functionality was introduced, the standard evolved into what is now SOAP.
Of course, that says nothing about what it's good for... ;D

You were right Agent... I did the Wikipedia search too but I still don't really know what it's usefulness is... guess I don't need it. :)

XML-RPC integration?
« Reply #7 on: October 24, 2006, 09:09:17 PM »

XML-RPC is used for many things, but one of the most common uses is providing a means to post using a third party tool such as iBlog, thingamablog, etc. Download a copy of wordpress and take a look at the file named xmlrpc.php. I don't use these third-party tools, but it would really put snews in a differrent league, to the masses were it supported.

Not that it isn't in a league by itself already..... :D

yeah xml rpc would be a WONDERFUL addition.. Im a big fan of performancing in Firefox and would love to be able to post to sNews using it via the xml rpc protocol.. I also use rocket post sometimes and xmlrpc would be useful for sNews in that program too..
