I know! :P (and it's been broken for a while...)

Most -if not all- of the points in the article are good points but I personally think that better search is an area where we could develop our own system the most. I think I've made some headway into that area with the new set of themes (release imminent) even if I'm only scraping the [search results] surface yet, not even touching things like relevance or search box prominence. Prominence is a design choice though. It won't fit everyone's taste. I've also recently looked at the featured article (not just recent) issue. Things to look more deeply into (if I had a say) are theme posts and better tagging. The category bit seems more of a WP issue than it is for us since sNews is more category-centric than WP, and a couple of other big'uns, but that doesn't mean it can't be improved.

All in all a good article. Food for thought.
